Verse 1 What A Friend we have in Jesus All our sins and griefs to bear What a privilege to carry Ev'rything to God in prayer O what peace we often forfeit O what needless pain we bear All because we do not carry Ev'rything to God in prayer Verse 2 Have we trials and temptations Is there trouble anywhere We should never be discouraged Take it to the Lord in prayer Can we find a friend so faithful Who will all our sorrows share Jesus know our ev'ry weakness Take it to the Lord in prayer Bridge (spoken) "I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble; but take heart, I have over come the world!" Verse 3 Are we weak and heavy laden Cumbered with a load of care Precious Savior still our refuge Take it to the Lord in prayer Do thy friends despise forsake thee Take it to the Lord in prayer In His arms He'll take and shield thee Thou wilt find a solace there What a friend we have in Jesus...

Solid Rock 02:52
Verse 1 My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus' blood and righteousness I dare not trust the sweetest frame But wholly lean on Jesus' name On Christ the solid Rock I stand All other ground is sinking sand Verse 2 When darkness veils His lovely face I rest on His unchanging grace In every high and stormy gale My anchor holds within the veil On Christ the solid Rock I stand All other ground is sinking sand Verse 3 When He shall come with trumpet sound O may I then in Him be found Dressed in His righteousness alone Faultless to stand before the throne On Christ the solid Rock I stand All other ground is sinking sand

Verse 1 When upon life's billows You are tempest tossed When you are discouraged Thinking all is lost Count your many blessings Name them one by one And it will surprise you What the Lord hath done Chorus Count your blessings Name them one by one Count your blessings See what God hath done Count your blessings Name them one by one Count your many blessings See what God hath done Verse 2 Are you ever burdened With a load of care Does the cross seem heavy You are called to bear Count your many blessings Ev'ry doubt will fly And you will be singing As the days go by Chorus Count your blessings Name them one by one Count your blessings See what God hath done Count your blessings Name them one by one Count your many blessings See what God hath done

It Is Well 05:47
Verse 1 When peace like a river attendeth my way When sorrows like sea-billows roll Whatever my lot Thou has taught me to say It is well it is well with my soul It is well with my soul It is well it is well with my soul Verse 2 Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come Let this blessed assurance control That Christ has regarded my helpless estate And hath shed His own blood for my soul It is well with my soul It is well it is well with my soul Verse 3 My sin O the bliss of this glorious thought That my sin not just part but the whole Has been nailed to the cross And I bear it no more Praise the Lord praise the Lord O my soul It is well with my soul It is well it is well with my soul Verse 4 And Lord haste the day when the faith shall be sight The clouds be rolled back as a scroll The trump shall resound and the Lord shall descend Even so it is well with my soul It is well with my soul It is well it is well with my soul

Verse 1 Be still my soul the Lord is on thy side Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain Leave to thy God to order and provide In every change He faithful will remain Be still my soul thy best thy heav'nly Friend Thro' thorny ways leads to a joyful end Verse 2 Be still my soul thy God doth undertake To guide the future as He has the past Thy hope thy confidence let nothing shake All now mysterious shall be bright at last Be still my soul the waves and winds still know His voice who ruled them while He dwelt below

about

My earliest memory is Mom standing my toddler feet on the back of the pew in front of us, wrapping her arms around me while holding a hymnal, singing deep, alto harmonies into my ticklish ears. I grew up in a church that celebrated solid doctrine, creeds, sacraments and Christian heritage - these were sacred.

In recent years, however, my understanding of sacred has expanded, as I've wrestled with the true scope of Christ's redemptive plan and the recognition that God's kingdom is not exclusively hemmed within the four walls of a church building, but loosed in a messy, wild, unpredictable world that is yearning for His sons and daughters to be revealed.

Scripture tells us, "A wise man brings out treasures, old & new." This recording is a marriage of two worlds. Hymns, expressing the bedrock of our faith, wrapped around new forms of musical expression. As the inside montage suggests, this is more an eclectic collection than a traditional album. Several of the songs have that simple, acoustic arrangement many of you have been asking for. While a few songs are a wild departure from my typical stuff.

This is a multi-generational project. I hope everyone in your family will have a different favorite song (from 4 years old to 84)!
